I woke up this morning at 5AM. Groggy and no coffee to spike me up, I tuned in to Tor books and Den of Geek‘s event today: a conversation between Neil Gaiman and VE Schwab. And I’m glad I didn’t choose sleep over this.
I’m just spellbound on what they’re taking about. After the session, I had a realization:
I’m turning 30 this year.
That means, there are a few decades left for me to create and write. I want to become like Neil and Victoria. Like they said, I won’t be able to choose how I will be remembered, but I want my stories to be my legacy.
I’m happy that I’m enjoying the creative process, unlike before that I only love the idea of having written. I love writing, and the fun and sorrow and weirdness that come with it. Perhaps now is also the time to dream bigger, to be a little bolder, to make the fire a little brighter.
I’m building a little world, book by book, page by page, word by word. A creative wordscape for those needing a place to escape. It’s a long night. But I’ll get there. Someday, I’ll get there.
